UV-Scene combines over 20 years of film industry experience and the expertise of clinicians and epidemiologists working on COVID19 to offer a hospital grade ultraviolet disinfectant light application for all environments, specializing in locations used by the film industry.
First and foremost it's chemical free! Our hospital grade UVC light is as effective if not more than the harsh chemicals used in sprays and foggers. If you have children or pets and are concerned about surface areas being covered with chemicals then UVC disinfection is a smart choice. Since it is chemical free, it leaves behind no residue, and does no harm to furniture, carpets, and household items unlike some of the chemical options.
UVC wavelengths are between 200 and 280 nanometers, making them germicidal– meaning they are capable of inactivating microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa. UVC has been shown to destroy airborne coronavirus here and also completely deactivates Sas Cov2 (Covid 19) here.
A recent and well publicized recent letter to the WHO from 239 scientists representing 39 countries recommended to “supplement general ventilation with airborne infection controls such as local exhaust, high efficiency air filtration, and germicidal ultraviolet lights" (link here) to mitigate the risk of airborne SARS CoV2.
Our UCV lighting is less prone to human errors, since it doesn't depend on spraying down every square inch of the house. Our UVC towers, are set by trained technicians determine the disinfection time for the square footage based on scientific research on disinfection times. Once done, the disinfected area will be germ free and can be re-occupied immediately.
UVC light is commonly used around the world to disinfect from hospitals, to the NYC subway, to disinfecting N-95s to be worn again. UVC has been recommended to sue in hospitals since it has been shown to significantly reduce pathogens which traditional cleaning leaves behind (link here).
UVC light has even been used since the 1990s, for 30 years to disinfect! It is used to reduce infections from circulating pathogens in operating rooms (link here).
Ultraviolet (UV) light is a form of light, invisible to the human eye, that exists on the electromagnetic spectrum between X-rays and visible light. We are exposed to low levels of UV light from the sun’s rays every day, although much of the UV energy is absorbed by the ozone layer.
There are three UV light wavelength categories: UVA, UVB andUVC. Tru-D SmartUVC produces UVC, the only wavelength known to be germicidal. UVC utilizes short-wavelength ultraviolet radiation (shorter than UVB and UVA, which are NOT germicidal) that is harmful to microorganisms. Broad Spectrum UV disinfection often claims to be more effective than short wavelength UVC, but ultimately wastes a considerable amount of energy with no documented increase in effectiveness – only short wavelength UVC produces the amount of energy necessary to kill microorganisms.
Depending on how many rooms are being disinfected a typical residential home can take between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours to disinfect. For stages and locations without furnishings the time can be considerably less.
A fully loaded van with UVC lights is $500 for a four hour window at one location, including labor for appointment based services. To have a Technician present and have unlimited use of UVC and electrostatic spray products, including a scrubber, is $950 plus the Technician on a timecard for $500/12 hours. We understand every location and budget is different and will be sensitive to all projects big and small. Please see Our Services here for details.
YES, although chemical free, UVC light is harmful when exposed to skin and eyes and should only be administered by trained technicians. Our technicians place warning signs at all access points of the location and while the lights are on they stand guard at these points. All of our towers are equipped with occupancy sensors and will turn off immediately if they sense any sort of living being in close proximity.
